Outstanding and rare green leaf majolica plate decorated with an anemone poppy flower border and strawberry vines. It has three large, six petal flowers evenly distributed along the scalloped border and, providing a sense of depth, a smaller scale pattern of strawberries, leaves, flowers and vines over a veined wood / trunk appearance textured ground. The plate has a small center flower around which swirl acanthus leaves. The expressive, bold rendition of the anemones is typical of Art Nouveau / Jugendstihl / Liberty / Arts & Crafts period. We have seen shape and pattern similarities in early 19th century English Don Pottery pieces. The thinly potted, slightly iridescent finish is also characteristic of early English green glazed pottery. In good used condition with glaze wear to raised spots, crazing, flakes, roughness / discoloration to edge section apparently from the time of manufacture as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
