Beautiful porcelain plaque painting Madonna of the Chair after Italian Renaissance master Raphael. Also known as The Madonna della Seggiola or della Sedia (chair in Italian) the c. 1513-1514 original is part of the collection of the Palazzo Pitti in Florence. It depicts the Virgin Mary holding the child Jesus and a young John the Baptist watching from the side. It has a three digit impressed number 456 on the back, probably indicating that the blank plaque was made by German porcelain manufacturer Hutschenreuther. Pencil inscription on the reverse gives us clues as to its provenance. The address corresponds to a townhouse in the Kalorama neighborhood of Washington D.C. In very good used condition with minor imperfections as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
Measurements: 6" diameter (15.3 cm) approximately.
