Lovely Hibachi, a Japanese traditional heating device, made out of Kiri / Paulonia wood, apparently a hollowed out trunk section. It is decorated with a raised floral design colored with sprinkled metallic powders, a technique known as Maki-e. It comes complete with its original copper liner which is clearly signed on the underside with large Japanese characters. Perfect to repurpose as a planter or display by itself. A rustic piece in good used condition cracks, scuffs, natural wood imperfections, loss to mother or pearl inlay and restoration as shown. Zoom into photos for details.
