Extraordinary antique English majolica Wardle & Co. coral and shell pattern large pitcher marked on the underside with an English Registry Mark. It is predominantly turquoise with pink shells and interior, and yellow and green details on an off white coral-like textured ground. A pitcher of this same pattern and coloring appears on the Wardle & Co. page of the International Majolica Society web site. Wardle & Co. was founded in Hanley, in Staffordshire, England in 1868 by James Wardle and remained in business until 1910. In very good used condition with crazing, glaze losses and imperfections from the time of manufacture typical of majolica as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
Measurements: 7 5/8" tall by 7 1/4" widest point (spout to handle) approximately.
