Extraordinary Falco Islandus original hand colored ornithological lithograph from John Gould's 'The Birds of Great Britain'. It represents a young Iceland falcon. It is inscribed below the image as follows:

J. F. Gmel. refers to Johann Friedrich Gmelin (1748 – 1804) a German naturalist, botanist and entomologist who, in 1788-1789, published descriptions and scientific names of many new species.
It comes ready to display with a cream colored mat and elegant brown wood frame in a shade similar to that of the falcon's feathers. A copy of this lithograph dated 1845/1881 is part of The Henry Ford collection. In very good used condition with minor toning and imperfections as shown. Shipped fully insured with packing number.
