Johannes Kip copper engraving entitled "Southam the Seat of Kinard de la Bere Esq." numbered upper right 185. This view was first published in 1712 in Volume II of The Britannia Illustrata, also known as Views of Several of the Queens Palaces and also of the Principal Seats of the Nobility & Gentry of Great Britain. This engraving is the large version of the 1768 edition of The Ancient and Present State of Gloucestershire by Sir Robert Atkyns, Knt. Johannes Kip (1653-1722) was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver active in early 18th Century England. He is best known for his birds eye views of English royalty and nobility country seats. On laid paper, in very good used condition, a rare example with apparently full margins, toning, center fold mark (as issued) and minor imperfections as shown.
