Set of 6 lovely Mottahedeh display / cabinet cups and saucers decorated with black transferware on a pale yellow ground. The cups are Empire style, with high figural handles in the shape of an eagle head. The cups are decorated with maps of a region of France including Rhone (1), Ardenne (3), Sarthe (1), and Somme (1) . The cups and plates are also decorated with an eight point star decoration perhaps inspired by the eight point rose compass used in nautical charts. All pieces are marked on the underside "A Mottahedeh design" Italy. Five of the six cups are also coded S.5072/A. Mottahedeh is a leader in luxury ceramic decorative items and historic designs.
