William Henry Bartlett (1809-1854) was a British engraver who first visited the United States in 1835 and drew it's northeast landscapes, lakes and rivers. His drawings were done in a sepia wash and in the same small format as they were meant to be engraved. The steel engravings based on his drawings illustrated a series of 19th Century publications including "American Scenery; or Land, Lake, and River: Illustrations of Transatlantic Nature" with text by Nathaniel Parker Willis; and the series "American Scenery" published in London by George Virtue. They come nicely framed and ready to display. In very good used condition with minor toning and trimmed as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
