Extraordinary antique Chinese Canton enamel dish decorated in a soft Famille Rose palette of predominantly green, mauve and blue with touches of pink, yellow and black. It portrays two young boys at play accompanied by a young lady, perhaps their mother, in a park like setting by the water. The older boy has his arm raised holding a ruyi scepter. The younger boy runs pointing a spear with dangling fish towards the seated lady who playfully uses her fan as a shield. The scene is surrounded by a royal blue band with scrolls and leaves in shades of green combined with various flowers and fruits in pinks and yellows. The outer border has alternating round and diamond shape reserves decorated with scrolls, flowers and fruits on a diaper pattern (geometric shaped decoration) in mauve, green and black. The back of the plate has a large blue painted in enamel dragon-shaped roundel encircled by floral and fruit sprays against a pale turquoise ground. The plate has a shallow foot and the bronze-toned metal is visible on the edge of both foot and plate. We have seen similar examples described as Qianlong period (1736-1795). In very good used condition with minor signs of wear as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
