Charming bronze sculpture / figure of a carefree young boy whistling while he walks, carrying stack of books tied by a strap and a notebook under his arm. It is signed on the base M. Debut, the signature of Marcel Debut (1865-1933) a French sculptor and painter that came from a family of artists, his father was the sculptor Jean Didier Debut. The boy is portrayed wearing a cap, knickers and knee socks, typical French schoolboy wear in the mid 1920's. His demeanor and open jacket and shirt suggests spring-like weather and, in spite of his trousers torn at the knee, the optimistic feeling of the inter-war years. In good used condition with small dents and imperfections as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
