Rare late 18th Century hand colored costume engraving of French West Africa of a man from Aardra wearing a red cape. Inscriptions on the page read as follows:

Labrousse del. St. Sauveur direx.Jacques Grasset de Saint-Sauveur (1757-1810) was a writer, diplomat and adventurer born in Montreal while his father was secretary to the governor of New France.

L. F. Labrousse was a designer and engraver active in the second half of the 18th century.

Printed on early laid paper, in very good used condition as shown. It comes matted and framed ready to display. Shipped fully insured with tracking number. One of a pair listed separately.
