Beautiful pair of double gourd, gilt bronze / ormolu mounted porcelain vases / candlesticks. They are decorated with hand painted cherub scenes in puce on white reserves with gilt accents and yellow ground. The puce / yellow color combination as well as the Asian influence evidenced by its double gourd shape clearly show the influence of earlier, 18th Century Meissen Augustus Rex pieces. Both vases are marked on the underside with a slightly legible AR mark, most likely that of Helena Wolfsohn used circa 1880. These are heavy and substantial pieces weighing about 2 lbs each unpacked. In very good used condition, with minor wear to gilt, slightly askew bobeche and imperfections from the time of manufacture as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
Measurements: 9 1/2" tall by 3 3/48" base diameter approximately.
