Beautiful French majolica barbotine Fives Lille cabinet plate with three, three dimensional pears. Reverse has four factory made perforations from which to pass a cord or wire for display purposes. It has incised numbers on the back 155 and 8 as well as painted ciphers as shown. The Faïencerie Fives Lille was founded c. 1862 by Antoine Gustave De Bruyn (1838-1916) who came from a long line of Belgian potters and settled in Lille, France. We have seen similar majolica plates decorated with apples, lemons and grapes. In very good used condition with crazing and minor imperfections typical of this kind of pottery as shown. This is a heavy and substantial piece weighing almost 2 1/2 lbs unpacked. We have a smaller version of this plate listed separately. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
