Antique color mezzotint etching entitled La Nuit (The Night) after Charles Dominique Joseph Eisen (1720-1778), a Belgian painter and engraver active in France and Jean-Baptiste PATAS (1744-1817) a French engraver and draftsman. Inscription on the page reads as follows:

LA NUIT. La Nuit du Mariage est bonne, quand on s'aime; Autrement, cette Nuit est la sottise meme (translation: THE NIGHT. The Wedding Night is good, when we love ; Otherwise, this night is foolishness itself.)

Dessine par Eisen. Grave par Patas.
