Antique Americana woven silk jacquard picture of Betsy Ross making the first United States flag. The flag, in full color, is clearly the protagonist of the picture. Everything else is portrayed in shades of grey including Betsy in her rocking chair, a white cat at her feet and an old spinning wheel on the left. It is signed on the lower right Anderson Bros., Paterson N.J. A similar example is part of the collection of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is mounted on a gold tone silk fabric background and comes in a carved wood frame ready to display. The cardboard backing has a 1930's NRA stamp. NRA stood for the National Recovery Administration, an agency established during the Great Depression to stimulate business recovery. In very good used condition with toning and minor imperfections as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
