Wedgwood Majolica Ocean Shell Seaweed and Waves Pattern Cream and Sugar Bowls - c. 1882, England
Hard to find Wedgwood Majolica Ocean cream pitcher and sugar bowl decorated with raised seashells, seaweeds and wave shapes on a turquoise ground. Interiors are painted a pale violet red and the rims goldenrod color. Inscription on the underside reads as follows:
Incised WEDGWOOD and number 20 for sugar bowl, number 24 for creamer Red painted number 3139 Incised date code RMK on pitcher (K indicating the year 1882 on both pieces). Various ciphers (see photos).
In good used condition with crazing typical of majolica, old professional restoration to creamer and rough spot to creamer surface. Additional photos available. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
Measurements: Sugar Bowl: 3 1/2" tall; Creamer: 3 1/4" tall approximately.
