Extraordinary Royal Bermudan Royal Worcester porcelain figure designed by Ronald van Ruyckevelt in the shape of a natural size spiral conch shell. Ronald van Ruyckevelt was a Royal Worcester designer specialized in the modeling of fish in underwater settings, shells and birds. A full biography of Royal Worcester designer Ronald van Ruyckevelt is available at the Royal Worcester Museum website. His wife Ruth ( Levett ), a designer and illustrator, also worked at Royal Worcester. It is marked on the underside with a green Royal Worcester mark with a W plus 6 dots date of which dates its manufacture to the year 1956. The model number is 3545 and it was introduced the year before, 1955. So realistic, it even has the texture of a shell, that you have to look twice to realize its not a natural conch shell.
