Stunning Wedgwood antique Majolica lobster plate. It has a raised lobster central figure on a bed of yellow and brown seaweed on a turquoise ground surrounded by a cream colored border decorated with raised radishes, carrots, scallions, and seaweed. The plate is marked on the underside as follows:
MKZ (M for May, K for the potter's name and Z for the year 1871). WEDGWOOD 2928A
The absence of the world ENGLAND on the underside tells us that this plate was made pre-1891. In very good used condition with fine crazing typical of majolica as shown. A similar themed and sized Wedgwood majolica sea shell plate is listed separately.
Measaurements: 8 5/8" (21.9 cm) diameter approximately.
