Beautiful antique signed Oriflamme vase by Wilkinson's Staffordshire Pottery designer and art director John Butler. Printed on the underside is the Wilkinson's black mark used circa 1891 and before 1896 (when the word Ltd. was added to the mark). It is also signed with a stylized letter "B" for Butler. The body is decorated with an overall marble effect in green, gold and a hint of purple. It is 6" tall which is rather large for Oriflamme pieces which were also made in miniature sizes. Inscriptions on the underside read as follows:

Wilkinson's Royal Staffordshire Potteries is best known for launching the career of Clarice Cliff, one of the 20th Century's premier ceramic designer. She started out at Wilkinson in 1916 at age 17 and was later made apprentice to the designer of this vase John Butler, Wilkinson Pottery Art Director at the time. In very good used condition with minor imperfections as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
