Charming, antique, colorful lustre faience bowl decorated with aesthetic style tropical setting of crane bird with red forecrown in marshlands surrounded by flowers and palm like vegetation. The bowl is inserted into woven wire basket with heart shaped handles. It has no makers mark on the underside, which is typical of older pieces, except for an incised letter V and a red number 1. We have seen similar items described as Dutch earthenware made in Maastricht by Petrus Regout at the De Sphynx Pottery circa 1885. The decor is known as Panama. Lovely example of wireware to decorate a country / provincial / cottage style setting. In good used condition with brown patina to metal, crazing / hairlines as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number. A similar wireware basket is listed separately.
Measurements: Wire handle to handle: 10"; Wire Diameter: 8 1/4"; Height: 3"; Faience Bowl: 5" diameter approximately.
