Antique Silk Needlework Embroidery Picture Country Girl in Tuscany Gilt Wood Frame Eglomise Mat - circa 1830Antique Silk Needlework Embroidery Picture Country Girl in Tuscany Gilt Wood Frame Eglomise Mat - circa 1830Antique Silk Needlework Embroidery Picture Country Girl in Tuscany Gilt Wood Frame Eglomise Mat - circa 1830

Beautiful antique needlework silk embroidery depicting a pretty young lady riding a donkey holding a basket of fruit. It is done after "Country Girl of Tuscany" by English painter James Northcote (1746-1831) and the subsequent stipple engraving by French engraver Thomas Gaugain (1748-1810). The stipple engraving effect is interpreted in this embroidery by means of a tiny dot stitching technique. It comes ready to display in a fine gilt wood frame with an eglomise (reverse painted glass) black mat with gilt accents. In very good used condition with minor foxing as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.

Measurements: Frame: 13 1/8" by 11 5/8" by 1 3/8"; Visible Image: 9" by 6 3/4" approximately.
