Amazing cut fabric collage in a gilt wood shadow box frame. It depicts a young couple in 18th Century dress, the lady seated under a tree, by a river, fishing. A large fishing net pole leans against the gentleman who is holding and showing her a large fish (as if saying: the net works better than the rod!). The setting is tropical complete with exuberant vegetation, parrots and other exotic birds. The tree and bush branches and leaves are three dimensional. The line of her fishing cane drops into a gauze fabric representing the river stream and silvery fish can be seen beneath it. Face and hand details are painted in watercolor and both figures have what appears to be real hair. A truly original and exceptional textile. In very good used condition with minor loss to shadow box trim as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
