Outstanding French faience marbleized Aptware pitcher with applied vine leaf, grape, and twig shaped decor from the Bernard-Faucon family atelier. This earthenware, also known as Marbré d’Apt, is typical of Apt, a small town in Provence, and blends different natural color clays achieving a marble like appearance. It is signed semi-legible on the underside, J Faucon, Apt. Pierre Deux's French Country book devotes several pages to Faucon's marbleized Apt faience such as this in its Provencal Pottery chapter.
