Charming Jane Hutcheson strawberries arrangement in a gilt woven metal basket. The entire arrangement is made out of gilt and enameled metal and the blossoms have glass centers. This type of work is known as Fleurs des Siecles and was inspired by 17th and 18th century French Vincennes porcelain flowers. Jane Hutcheson first displayed her arrangements in the window of a Madison Avenue shop in New York City. Her work was discovered and Jane secured a contract with Gorham. "Fleurs des Siecles" became one of their most successful gift lines of the 1970's and 80's. A gilt sterling basket design was developed for Cartier and a one of a kind arrangement of white camellias was specially made for Queen Elizabeth II and is part of the English Royal Collection. Jane also designed a small strawberry arrangement much like this one for Cartier except that it comes in a different, woven sterling basket marked Cartier and sells for record prices. In good used condition with enamel wear as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
Measurements: Entire arrangement: 4 1/2" long by 3" deep by 3 1/2" tall approximately.
