Fine American watercolor of a boat house by the water signed Walkley on the lower right. It shows various figures in and around a bright red boat house and two beached boats on a river shore. Houses are seen in the background in a green turning to brown fall landscape. David Birdsey Walkley (1849-1934) was a Rock Creek, Ohio American artist trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Julian Academy in Paris, and the Art Students League in New York. He is mostly associated with Connecticut, specifically Mystic River, where he moved in 1902 to raise his family and co-founded the Mystic Art Association. In very good condition, mounted on cardboard, with overall toning as shown. Comes nicely matted and framed, protected by glass and ready to display. Shipped professionally packed and fully insured with tracking number.
