Fine, hand-crafted silver filigree necklace made out of fifteen linked individual alpine wildflower shapes with vermeil / gilt centers. In th center it has a large, sixteen petal flower measuring 1 5/8" in diameter and seven flowers decreasing in size on each side ending in a hook and eye closure. Unmarked but we have seen similar items described as .800 silver filigree made in the south Tyrol region (around the Austria / Italy border). This region has a long tradition of making silver filigree ornaments originally worn by country folk on Sundays and special occasions. The care and attention to detail in the making of this necklace is characteristic of an early piece. Each flower center disk has tiny gilt twisted wire circles representing the miniature tubular florets of this type of flower. Each center is separately made and individually attached, according to size, to its corresponding flower as can be appreciated in the last photo showing the reverse of the necklace. In very good used condition with patina and gilt loss as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
