Beautifully done antique miniature painting of the Audience Hall of the Red Fort of Old Delhi, India. The Red Fort housed the Mughal Emperors, it's considered the epitome of Mughal architecture and is a Unesco World Heritage site. Predominant colors are gilt, red, light blue and white. Possibly a 19th Century Grand Tour memento / souvenir of the still remote India. The Grand Tour refers to a traditional cultural trip undertaken mostly by British upper class young men before the age of mass tourism. It comes in a patinated wood frame with black velvet mat and is protected by a bombe glass. In very good condition with wear to velvet and minor imperfections to frame as shown.
