Antique painted lithograph depicting three cardinals having tea. It is signed on the lower right P. Pavesi and dated 1901, the signature of Italian painter Pietro Pavesi. Highly finished, realistic depiction of Cardinals in relaxed, often humorous attitudes, in sharp contrast with the elegance and formality of their private room surrounding was a popular subject matter at the turn of the 19th / 20th century. Quite the opposite of earlier depictions were high church officials were portrayed performing their formal, public role. It comes matted and framed, ready to display. In very good used condition with minor paint flaking, mounted on cardboard; frame has gilt losses and imperfections as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
