Lovely large papier mache tray decorated with raised gilt on a black background depicting Chinoiserie scenes of pagodas, temples, bridges, willow, palms, figures and a bird in flight in a garden setting. Of rounded rectangular shape, the tray has a raised edge with a floral decor. It has an old label on the back inscribed Joseph Stanley, Philadelphia PA. Joseph Stanley was a noted antique dealer who lived and worked in the Bucks County, Pennsylvania Cintra mansion. Stanley closed his business to the public in the mid 1980's and lived among his antiques in a virtual time capsule until his death in 2008.
