Beautiful French color engraving La Petite Loge [The Opera Box] depicting an old woman introducing a dancer to two gentlemen sitting in an opera box. Inscription below the image reads as follows: La Petite Loge, Moreau Le Jeune. The original engravings by Jean Michel Moreau Le Jeune (French, Paris 1741–1814) illustrated the book Monument du Costume by Restif de la Bretonne. Nicolas-Edme Restif De La Bretonne (1734-1806), was a French novelist who wrote lively accounts of the sordid aspects of 18th Century French life. Unexamined outside of frame, photo taken through glass which explains reflections. Beautiful mat and frame and in very good used condition as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
