Richard Klemm Tea Caddy Dresden Porcelain Cornflowers - 1889 to 1916, Germany
Lovely Dresden Richard Klemm porcelain lidded tea caddy / canister decorated with small blue cornflowers on a white ground. Known in France as Bleuet, this tiny blue flower is said to have been Marie Antoinette's favorite. It later commemorated the blue bandages that WWI French wounded soldiers wore and now honors all French veterans. The canister is marked on the underside with initials RK, the mark of Richard Klemm. Founded in 1869 in Striesen, Richard Klemm was one of the four original Dresden porcelain companies . In very good used condition with minor wear to gilt as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
Measurements: 5.5" high including lid finial by 2.5" square base approximately.
