Charming English pottery pitcher decorated with a figural fox shaped handle and painted images of John Peel and hunting. It includes a Thorens music mechanism on the base which, after winding, plays a lovely melody when the pitcher is lifted. John Peel (c.1776 – 1854) was an English huntsman and the subject of the song D'ye ken John Peel (loosely translated Do you know John Peel) the lyrics of which are inscribed on the side of the jug. It is marked on the underside Crown Devon Fieldings Made in England R°N° 755789 which dates the pitcher manufacture to 1930. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
Measurements: 8" high at tallest point of handle (fox ear).
