Battle of Bunker Hill original color serigraph signed in pencil de Mejo, titled and numbered 58/250. It shows rebel forces following Colonel William Prescott's famous order: "Do not fire until you see the white of their eyes." It is authenticated as the Collector's Guild certificate on the reverse shows. Oscar de Mejo (b. 1911 Trieste, Italy - d. 1992 Manhattan, NY ) was an Italian born surrealist painter active in the United States. He was once married to Austro-Italian actress Alida Valli (Baroness Alida Maria Laura Altenburger von Marckenstein u. Frauenberg) once known as the most beautiful woman in the world. De Mejo was also a sometime jazz composer and held degrees in Law and Political Science. His works have been featured in such publications as American Heritage, Architectural Digest, Art Today, Harpers, Town and Country, Vogue Magazine, Yale Literary Magazine, Travel & Leisure and the New York Times among others. His style has been aptly described as a rare mix of primitive and sophisticated. In very good condition with minor imperfections to frame as shown.
