Iridescent Rindskopf Pepita art glass basket with wavy, textured surface and green colored bottom fading upwards to dark wine red shade on the upper border. This is a heavy, substantial hand-blown piece with a polished pontil on the underside (see last photo). The clear glass handle is applied to the body of the basket with glass rosettes in Loetz fashion. The Rindskopf glass factories were located in Teplitz, Bohemia now part of Czech Republic. Josef Rindskopf (1829-1890) traveled in the mid 19th Century to the United States and married Fanny Phillips from New York. Succeeding generations remained at the helm of the Rindskopf glass works until the German invasion of Czechoslovaquia forced the family to emigrate. The factory was later taken over by the Communist Regime. In very good used condition as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
