Pair Porcelain Candlesticks Dogs after Chinese Export Famille Rose Qianlong by Mottahedeh Stately Homes Sir Humphrey Wakefield - 20th Century
Pair of charming porcelain candlesticks decorated with floral motifs in the Famille Rose style. They rest on shallow trays and are flanked by a pair of leaping hound dogs. They would look great with candles that picked up the shade of green where the dogs stand, on the tray, that has the appearance of pooled melted wax. Although the overall shape is derived from traditional silver candlestick design, the leaping dogs feature appears to be a Chinese addition as no similar Western example has been found. They are marked on the underside Stately Homes Sir Humphrey Wakefield Mottahedeh and are replicas of Qianlong period Chinese Famille Rose pieces. Similar Qianlong period candlesticks rarely appear on the market and, when they do, fetch record prices. Sir Humphrey Wakefield is an English Baronet , owner of 800-year-old Chillingham castle and its collections. Mottahedeh holds the license to many classic designs based on Chinese Export, Early European and Chinese designs and has made pieces for the President, the State Department and for the Diplomatic Corps. In very good used condition as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
