Extraordinary pair of matching Limoges white on white ceramic containers after an 18th Century French model made by St. Cloud. They are decorated with floral motifs in relief and handles on each side shaped as figural masks of heads with open mouths and tongues sticking out. Although meant as a wine bottle cooler, it could also serve as a planter / cachepot / jardiniere. Text on the underside reads as follows: MMA Metropolitan Museum of Art Reproduction of a soft-paste porcelain seau a bouteille or wine bottle cooler made at St. Cloud, France, about 1725-1740. Ch.
