Extraordinary set of four hand-painted, water-colored etchings of traditional, 19th Century Italian scenes, one of them signed on the plate, lower right G. Dura. All four depict group scenes, three of dances and one of a group of young men playing a traditional Italian sport, apparently a form of Tamburello, which is played with a tambourine-like bat. Gaetano Dura (1805-1878) was an Italian artist active in the 1800's known for his depictions of genre scenes of life in and around Naples. His works are highly sought after, have sold in major international auction houses and are part of the collection of important museums. All four lithographs have silk mats and gilt wood frames. In very good used condition with minor gilt losses and imperfections to frames as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
