Beautiful porcelain bowl decorated with Chinoiserie figures, floral bouquets, gilt accents and a scalloped edge. This shape is referred to as Monteith and is inspired on traditional punch bowls where cups hung from the notches. It is clearly marked on the underside VA Vista Alegre Portugal Mottahedeh. Vista Alegre was founded in the early 1800's by Portuguese industrialist Pinto Basto. Shortly after, it was granted the title of Royal Factory in recognition of its artistic and fine quality wares. Mottahedeh is the recognized leader in luxury ceramic decorative items and historic designs. They hold the license to many classic designs based on Chinese Export and early European objects and has made pieces for the White House, the State Department and Diplomatic Corps as well as several museums.
