Beautiful pair of French faience square bowls / compotieres decorated with polychrome scenes and fluted borders lined in manganese, yellow and brown. They are decorated with detailed outdoor scenes, one of farmers and the other of nobles / Royalty. They are marked on the back with red initials R. X. Undated but we have seen similarly shaped and decorated compotiers described as Les Islettes faience c. late 18th/early 19th Century. In very good used condition with minor wear to paint, glaze losses typical of faience and minor imperfections from the time of manufacture as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
