Beautiful Quezal iridescent art glass gold tone table lamp base. The Quezal Art Glass and Decorating Co. of New York City is considered, along with Tiffany and Steuben, to be among the three foremost art glass manufacturers in the United States. It was founded by two former Tiffany employees, Martin Bach Sr. and Thomas Johnson. Bach Sr., born in 1865, started out working at the St. Louis Glass Works in France. He joined Tiffany in its beginnings as glass chemist. Bach learned Tiffany's formulas and circa 1901 formed Quezal Art Glass & Decorating Co. together with ex-Tiffany glass blower Thomas Johnson and staffed mostly with former Tiffany workers. The company was rather short lived (1901-1924) so Quezal glass is, in fact, scarcer than Tiffany or Steuben glass. In very good used condition with minor imperfections as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
Measurements: 9.5" tall (20" tall including electrical installation) by 5" diameter at base approximately.
Mostly 19th Century Art and Antiques
