Striking black and white dry point etching entitled "The return of the plate fleet" depicting the Spanish Armada. The plate fleet refers to the Spanish Armada galleons that transported silver (plata in Spanish) from the new world to Spain. It is signed in pencil on the lower right Norman Wilkinson. A distinguished British marine artist (b. 1878- d. 1971), Wilkinson was also known as wartime camoufleur during World War I and II and created a painting for the Titanic entitled "Plymouth Harbour" which was lost with the ship. In very good used condition with minor toning and imperfections to frame as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
