Beautiful rectangular green inkstone with rounded corners, a large ink grinding area and slightly sunk surface that serves as a water reservoir decorated with a dragon amidst stylized waves and clouds design. Ink stones are often called one of the four treasures of the scholars studio. We have seen similar items described as Chengni inkstones. It is inscribed on the reverse with Chinese characters. The line on the right from top to bottom means: purple stone mill. The line on the left is a person's name: Jiang Ai Wen. In very good condition with minor imperfections as shown.
