Extraordinary group of pheasants sculpture / installation made out of bronze with a brown patina. It portrays a family of pheasants with the tall male adult with its very long tail standing guard as the smaller female feeds her chicks. The artist's signature 'Lechesne, Sculp' and foundry mark 'L. Martin fondeur' are incised on the ground, close to the edge of the oval base. Auguste Lechesne (1811- 1888) was a French Animalier school sculptor born in Caen, Normandy.
