Beautiful Imari molded scalloped edge plate decorated with a border of muted cobalt wide brush strokes leaving a central eight point star-shaped white reserve. The center of the plate is decorated with a circular iron red, gilt and blue floral symbol, most likely an ancient Japanese family crest or kamon (emblems originally used to identify Japan's aristocratic families). This floral shape is repeated eight times over the blue border. The plate is decorated on the underside with thick blue brush strokes and eight smaller symbols. The foot is surrounded by blue circles, has painted xoxo characters on its exterior rim, and a six character Kangxi mark. The calligraphy's careful execution and muted colors is indicative of an early piece. In very good used condition with wear to gilt and two shallow border losses as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
