Fine German Nymphenburg Porzellan penguin figure signed with the shield mark used in the 1910-1975 period and numbered 181 as shown. A lovely example of Nymphenburg aquatic animal figurines. We have seen a similar Nymphenburg Penguin figure example described as designed by Brunner-Baumgartner in 1932. Penguins are flightless birds that live in the Southern Hemisphere, concentrated in Antarctica. The Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactury was established in the mid 1700's in Bavaria by Elector Max III Joseph of the House of Wittelsbach, one of the oldest Royal dynasties in Germany. King Ludwig II of Neuschwanstein Castle fame as well as Empress Elizabeth of Austria, better known as Sissi, were also of Wittelsbach lineage. In very good used condition with restoration. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
