Blue, white, salt-glazed, vintage Pitcher with embossed Grape and Trellis pattern, circa 1892-1896 by the North Star Stoneware co.
Pitcher is nine and a half inches tall and in wonderful condition. This pitcher has the protruding star on the bottom. There is a crack in the glaze at the top side of handle as shown in photo. This does not go through to the inside and does not take away from the integrity of the pitcher. This pitcher came in four different sizes and I believe this is the largest size.
Pitcher weighs in at four pounds before packaging.
The Union Stoneware Co. 1894-1906 was formed as a selling agency of three large potteries: Red Wing, North Star and Minnesota Stoneware co. North Star was bought out by the other two companies in 1896. In 1906, the three companies merged into one called Red Wing Union Stoneware Company.
