This is an amazing piece! The full bodied lion is exquisite. The glass etched bowl has a star and cross pattern. The rim has two flea-bites, which are so small they cannot be seen in a picture. It sits perfectly in the silver plate castor holder. The base is a black ebonized base which has a plaque. It reads "Presented by Capt. Obens to his brother officers 1870". There is slight damage to the silver plate, which holds the glass bowl. When this piece was attached to the top of the lion it must not have been reinforced (see last picture). It stands 9 1/4 inches tall and was produced in England.
