This is a circa late 1920s member's medal for the Shriner's Royal Order of Jesters. The Jesters got their start on board the USS Wilhelmina in 1911 in Hawaii, and the by invitation only Order has been adhering to its motto ("Mirth is King") ever since. The medal is sterling silver with multi-coloured guilloche enamel and shows an anchor with a question mark. It has a decorative suspension clip on a purple ribbon. At the bottom border the member's "court" number is written (56). The letters ROJ, for Royal Order of Jesters, encircle the top of the medal. The word "Sterling" is stamped on the bottom edge.
1-1/4 inches across.
