Gentle and Serene religious oil painting on board of Mary Magdalene after Carlo Dolci (Italian 1616-1686). The original piece was painted by Dolci in the 1660's and is in Florence. A young Mary Magdalene is shown with an alabaster pot of ointment. She is looking up to heaven. The pictures do not do the painting justice. The colour of the saint's skin is white with light flesh tones. It is very close to the real colour of skin. She has a very beautiful, young face. She looks very devout and dreamy. Her clothing is wonderful with lace accents at her neck and a red cape that has tiny gold studs on its edge. There is a large pearl and ruby jewel on her shoulder. Under the cape is a beautiful brocade in gold and blue. The painting has a dark patina from age. It looks magnificent on a wall.
EXCELLENT CONDITION. There is a tiny chip at the top of the painting. This hardly shows and does not detract. There is a small smudge just to the right of Magdalene's face. This is part of the original painting. There is a bit of residue around the edges where the frame would have been. This does not detract at all.
8-1/2 inches up and down x 7 inches wide.
