This is an unusual brooch that is signed Hattie Carnegie on the reverse. The focal point is a large orange and gold tone foiled Lucite cabochon in an abstract design. This cabochon is set in a braided gold tone frame. The filigree back features the Hattie Carnegie logo plaque. The closure is a soldered to the frame safety roll over clasp with a straight pin stem. Size is 1 1/2 inches in width by 1 7/8 inches in length. This brooch is in very good condition. There are no chips or cracks in the cabochon.
Hattie Carnegie, Inc was founded by Hattie Carnegie in 1919. The jewelry is highly prized and quite collectible. Hattie died in 1956. The business remained open under the direction of her husband John Zanft and then a former employee Larry Joseph. The business closed for good in 1976.
